꽃을 사랑한다면 

꽃을 사랑한다고 말하면서도
꽃에 물 주는 것을 잊어버린 여자를 본다면
우리는 그녀가 꽃을 사랑한다고 믿지 않을 것이다.
사랑은 사랑하고 있는 자의 생명과 성장에 대한
우리들의 적극적 관심인 것이다.
이러한 적극적 관심이 없으면 사랑도 없다.

(If a woman told us that she loved flowers, 
and we saw that she forgot to water them, 
we would not believe in her 'love' for the flowers. 
Love is the active concern for the life and growth of that which we love. 
Where this active concern is lacking, there is no love.)
